In an unusual use of the memory card, players are rewarded the Captain Olimar trophy if they have save data from Pikmin on their memory card while loading up Melee. Melee requires 11 blocks for its save data, along with further blocks in order to save snapshots the latter can require anywhere from 3 to 12 blocks of data depending on the complexity of the image.īy default, Melee reads save data from Slot A only, though Snapshots can be viewed from either Slot A or B. If no memory card is present, the game will warn the player of the fact when the game is booted, though the player can still play the game inserting a memory card at any point will let the game begin to save data, though it will overwrite any previous Melee data on the card.

The GameCube memory card is necessary in order to save data of any sort in Melee, including Records, unlockable characters, and other accomplishments, as well as snapshots taken with the game's Camera mode as data is frequently saved throughout gameplay, Melee's manual recommends against removing cards or shutting down the console before returning to the title screen. 1.2 Compatibility with Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.Games such as Animal Crossing, which took up a significant amount of blocks, sometimes came packaged with a card. The one with the most variants is the standard (usually) gray Memory Card. Therefore, they might be homemade, or have stickers that were released in a different way. The ones are not bold are variants that have been found in-person/on auction sites, but I haven’t been able to confirm if they are an official release. Versions that I could confirm came in a package are marked by bold text.

However, the story doesn’t stop there as there are a ton of variants. There are three official sizes in North America: 59 (gray). The GameCube, lacking internal memory storage relied on memory cards that were inserted into the front of the console. While browsing recycle stores, I stumbled upon these collectibles and looked into them. For today, I wanted to talk about a strange collectible: GameCube memory cards. I might write up a guide on buying used games in the future. As with general shopping, it’s always good to shop around, as one store will not have the lowest price for anything. There’s a lot of recycle stores in Japan… each have their strengths and weaknesses. It’s a lot like Good Will, or going to Yard Sales in America. You can also sell your things there for a fraction of the price. Recycle Stores are places that sell second-hand goods. One of my favorite hobbies is to go recycle store shopping in Japan.
